Q: How far should the thermometer be inserted into meat?
A: Insert the thermometer into the thickest portion of the meat. The core of the meat will give you the lowest internal temperature for an accurate reading when cooking. Make sure the tip of the thermometer is not touching the bone or fat of the meat.

Lots and lots of cheap meat thermometers out there, most of them inaccurate, or shoddily made, so a long life is out of the question. Throwaways that we leave in our drawer for what? Repairs?

This thermometer has a substantial feel to it and an appearance to match. I like that the unit turns on and off with opening and closing of the temperature needle. The unit registers the temperature reading pretty much instantaneously. With attention to the instructions, the unit can be washed and doesn’t need to be babied in the process. The magnet in the handle is a nice touch for conveniently storing on the refrigerator door.

The display is very easy to read, and also rotates to orient itself to the side you are holding the thermometer. I especially like the strong magnet, which keeps it securely affixed to the outside of the microwave. The end of the probe easily cleans up under running water.

Great thermometer. Accurate and quick read, auto shutoff, easy clean. I’ve never waited more than 2 seconds on a brisket, or chicken. Seems good to me. Comfortable to use, feels sturdy when holding it.

I have only used it a couple of times but I love it. The numbers are easy to read, it works throughout 180 degrees and the numbers even reorient (flip upside right) if you are using your left hand. It reads the temperature very quickly and has a magnet in it to stick to your metal grilling shelf.

This is very useful if you want to grill well. It tells you the internal temperature of the meat so you can get it perfectly right. And I need to keep my fingers away from the heat when reading, the HOLD button allows me to lock the temperature and read it at a safe place from the heat source.

This device has a bright display that automatically rotates according to how you hold it, plus it has a magnetic backing which allows us to put it on the side of the refrigerator in the kitchen, as well as on the side of the metal shelf for the outdoor gas grill. The probe also tucks neatly away and will turn off the thermometer when in that position. Very happy with the product to date.
